Today is my birthday. I love birthdays.
After the race yesterday [half marathon distance at the Austin Marathon], my friends, immediate family, and I hung out at Uncle Billy’s Brew and Q to drink beer in the sunshine. Things just don’t get much better than that.
Except in the evening, my extended family came over to our house. My sweetie made fajitas and they gave me a group present; my husband made this hilarious card [to the left] and everyone chipped in money toward my new bike.
Last week was a taper week, so my numbers are low. I haven’t even figured them yet.
I ran the half marathon yesterday, which was fun, and my 24 hours of bitching and moaning have expired, so it’s nothing but positive now!
Coach gave us the best idea, to tape over our watches so there was no obsessing over time and I enjoyed that (I still hit my splits, so I could look at them afterward).
It was a nice relief from the pressure of pacing; I haven’t really realized how taxing being exactly on…or trying to be exactly on…can be.
