Week 12 of Ironman Training (Whew)

I have to brag on my kid.

He decided yesterday for sure that he wanted to run the Cap 10K; he does a lot of running for soccer but he doesn’t run per se (he’s not in track or out doing some longer distance runs during the week or anything). He’s run it the last two years, and he announced that he wanted to try to finish in under :50. Uh, ok (my husband reminded me that 15-year-old boys, unlike 46-year-old women, can wake up and just do that sort of thing).

His dad took him down this morning, registered him, and I worked my workout around so that I was positioned on the bridge just before the turn into the finish at aproximately the “right” time. All of a sudden, there he came! I jumped up and down and screamed and clapped and he went on around…and about that time, my tiny brain said, “Hey, WHY ARE YOU STILL STANDING HERE?” so I took off, sprinting along the inside of the fence with him as he finished. It was awesome!!!!!!

I found him as he came into the finisher’s area, and he had a huge smile on his face…his watch time was 49:25. Lots of sweaty hugs.

Doing the Rosedale Ride

Did the Rosedale ride (60+ distance) yesterday with the hubby. It went well, as did my 30-minute run afterward. My run and swim today (and all the Cap 10K family activities; it’s a special weekend for my husband’s family) just took the last bit of energy I had.

Whew; I am glad for my rest day tomorrow.
