Ups and Downs

I had a really bang out, fun, good run on Tuesday.

It was raining; I’d planned on heading to the gym and working out but the idea of running in the rain really grabbed me. Off I went for my hilly 5K neighborhood route. It was heaven! I loved splashing along and the water was fabulous, cooling my body as I went (even though the outside temperature had not dropped all that much).

I ran one of my fastest times for this route in several years.

But it’s funny how things go up and down. There was so much water in our house on Wednesday that I skipped my workout (not just that morning but all day) to make phone calls and work on fixing the issue. Perhaps it was the darker, rainier day or my weird hormones or missing the workout or having to deal with the water in the house but I’ve found myself in a funk.

I missed my workout on Thursday and still took my off day today, Friday. No running for me since Tuesday; no working out of any sort. A large part of all that lethargy was simply due to being down and out of sorts.

Fall-back mileage this weekend but I’m still going to start early–it’s way too hot and muggy for me to sleep in and run. The big thing is my virtual running student has his first half marathon this weekend. When you work with someone online, there are a lot of unknowns.

I hope that he is happy with what he accomplishes this weekend.
