Pre-Race Dreams

Last night, I had a series of dreams, all with the recurrent theme of not being able to get where I needed to be because of some impediment.

In one, I kept changing clothes but always putting on the wrong things, so I would have to redress over and over again. You get the picture:  it’s all race anxiety.

No worries, though–it means I’m READY!

Lots of good things over the last few days. I tried out the Guppy Max open water swim group out at Mansfield Dam last Monday and, after initial feelings of inferiority, had a great time and enjoyed the experience. Nice bunch of people that included a training buddy I hadn’t seen in YEARS.

Tuesday, I had a very speedy short ride with a great 20-minute run, all following a wonderful lunch with friends (OK, eating at Mr. Natural provides gas propulsion).

On Wednesday, I meant to do 6 miles fast on the road and wore the Garmin so I’d know for sure, but it flaked out on me so there was no accurate measurement. Grrrrr…oh, well…

Thursday, I did an AWESOME Barton Creek greenbelt run for time (3:00) that was just a joy and a pleasure and all at a consistent, go-forever pace.

Swimming on Friday was another educational, practically private lesson.

And the week was topped off by a hugely fun ride with hubby and friends at my first ever “real” cycling event, the Rip Roarin’ Ride out in Liberty Hills. I like this bike stuff, especially when somebody else plans out a (safe) route for me and has great food.

One note:  I am very proud of the guy I am coaching on-line:  he just had a signficant 5K PR!  wahoo!
