Ironman Aftermath Continues

I’m tired.

Last week was busy. First, we came back from the trip and I was not rested or restored. Then, the girl child’s wisdom teeth came out. This involved intense nursing and attention.

Saturday, there was a trip to San Antonio that lasted all day and put me back here in Austin after 1AM Sunday morning. Now, I am one of those people who needs 8 hours of sleep. However, I got up Sunday morning for a trail run with a friend and then rode my bike in the afternoon for two hours (32 miles).

Went to bed at a decent hour and fell into that deep, deep, motionless sleep but had to get up early this morning to do something for a friend. And I have company coming tonight, which means house cleaning, etc.,  not to mention a late evening. I am already dragging.

I’m only one day into this week (Sunday) and my run and bike total is almost the same as the entire last week (1:35 for the run and 2:00 for the bike). I also think that perhaps my rest day needs to float instead of always being Mondays; in any case, I’m resting today.

There are no more “special events” on the family calendar, so I should be able to avoid the light-weight weeks I’ve had so far in July. My August numbers always pick ‘way up because everybody goes back to school  I can’t believe August is just right around the corner.

July 15-21 workouts:

  • swim       1:10
  • bike         1:40
  • run           2:00

TOTAL      4:50
