That Good Sick Feeling

I just did a short 3-mile run in the neighborhood to flush out the legs and relieve some pre-race jitters. Every workout I’ve done this week has been a dream–great swim, good ride and run, feeling like a million bucks.

I’m at that spot where I have a calm, almost Zen acceptance (“I am prepared to the best of my ability and I will do the best I can with what the day brings”) combined with that sickly feeling in the pit of my stomach that comes before jumping into an unknown. Being the twisted puppy that I am, I like this feeling.

After a good lunch, I’ll head out to the Longhorn Half Ironman expo, listen to the pre-race talk, rack my bike, and try to avoid any form of pre-race hysteria.

Deep breaths…calmness…positive energy only….

    1. I\’m doing the Longhorn Half tomorrow, my first half IM. The \”real deal\” Iron-thingie-to use my dear friend coj\’s term-is not until June \’08 (thank goodness).

  1. Have a magnificent time out there! I hope I get to cheer for you directly, but know that I\’ll be cheering for you even if I don\’t see you.

  2. Remember

to smile and enjoy the day at some point out there. For me it\’s usually in the first half of the bike when I just feel happy. Smile and remember that feeling 😀
