Back Blogging Again

It’s been almost exactly two months since I last wrote. Not a lot has changed.

I’m still having fatigue, especially if I try any intensity. I can last about 15 minutes “pushing it” and then it is like a severe “bonk.” The legs are heavy, everything slows, and I’m just done. My endurance at a slow pace has gotten better and I’m enjoying being back on the trails, especially with my dog. It’s made me realize just how much I missed those runs during the Ironman training.

I’ve seen a new endocrinologist who put me back on the thyroid medication (dosage and type) that I was on when I last felt good. His thinking was, we go back to what we know was successful and then work from there. Forget about the cold or virus or mono or whatever. Just go back to a good place and tweak as needed. He said if the problem were simply my changes in medication, I’d feel better pretty soon and dramatically. I’ve been back for about two days now. We’ll see….

It’s been frustrating. For the last four months, I’ve been working hard to focus on positives and deal with what I can and let go of the rest. Of course, on top of all that, there is everyday life and everything that goes with it. Some days have been quite bad. Really bad. But there have been some good days and there have been good friends to help me through rocky patches.

I went to a seminar the other day with some of these good friends. It was really amazing, and I came away with so many positives (and insights into some of the ways I’d been shutting myself off from positives). I’ve used visualization in my race preparations for years but I never applied it to LIFE. Well, we did at the workshop. I think this is going to make a profound difference in some things, especially in how I think about my weight. It may sound corny, so I won’t even try to explain it.

One thing that has come out of these four months is a lot of thought about me and work. I have some visions and things to pursue. And that’s exciting.

So I thought it would be helpful to me to get back to journaling. Maybe write more about “life” and less regarding “workouts.” Hopefully, there will be lots of good things in both departments to come soon!
