Heartsick

Our new little house over off French Place suffered from the storm; it looks like we’ll lose every tree in the front yard. The beautiful plants are all buried under a mountain of fallen trunks and limbs.

It’s hard to think about anything else.

  1. Thanks.

Our tree guy (who is wonderful) thinks we\’ll lose everything BUT there are 2 trees near the driveway where we can\’t really be sure until we get all the dead broken stuff out. So we\’re keeping our fingers crossed as to what is found when he gets up in there. The other trees (all elms) simply had the tops snapped out of them. I think my mountain laurel is crushed, as is the little ornamental tree (it might have been a plum) that was so pretty this spring. It truly is a miracle that nothing fell on our house…or our neighbors.

If we do lose them all, then we will start fresh and plant a beautiful burr oak that will be gorgeous long after we\’re gone. And I\’ll put in a fig tree out front in all the new sunshine. That\’s a nice thought.

  2. New Family Trees

What terrible news about the trees! On the bright side, you can plant little baby trees and watch them mature over the years to add your own personal touch to the property.
